Your Tasks

  • You manage global SAM records and inventory data requirements such as:
    • You maintain the SAM database, including input and update of data for software assets in relation to requisition, procurement, deployment, maintenance and retirement (and quality management)
    • You identify data requirements to manage inventory and usage reporting and support data connection activities
    • You identify discrepancies in the SAM database through periodic quality assurance audits, and resolve them or escalate them for investigation
    • You identify and analyze exceptional data to spot potential compliance issues; investigation of and reporting on licensing issues and remediation options
  • You manage global license and contract renewal process:
    • You provide reports and data from the SAM database to support the negotiation and procurement of software purchases
    • You manage the software support and maintenance renewals process to verify renewals are reviewed and optimized and in line with contractual commitments and are paid or canceled in time to avoid late payment fees or cancellation penalties
  • You create and analyse global SAM reports and manage stakeholder communication to ensure compliance and assess optimization
    • You are in charge of design, development, and regular generation of SAM reports
    • You regularly perform license reviews (compliance/usage/spend, etc.) to communicate and to monitor compliance, liability, and budgetary data and as well to identify optimization potential
    • You control gap analysis to identify root causes of incorrect licensing and recommend remedial actions
    • You manage inquiries about software usage, deployment, license availability
    • You identify areas for cost savings through the identification of shelfware, alternative support options, rationalization, license recycling and optimal licensing practices
  • Licensing and Consultancy
    • You provide licensing consultancy and advice (re- and proactive)
    • You alert stakeholders to licensing changes that are relevant to them and arrange licensing briefings as appropriate assist and consult local
  • Policies and Processes
    • You help define and implement global SAM Processes and policies and assist and govern in providing guardrails to local
    • You work with the software asset manager to raise awareness of SAM processes and policy across the IT organization and wider business as appropriate, alert stakeholders to licensing changes that are relevant to them and arrange licensing briefings as appropriate

Your Profile

  • You have a degree in computer science or business informatics or have completed vocational training as an IT specialist
  • Alternatively, you could acquire your qualification during your professional practice in the field of activity described above
  • You have very good knowledge of English and German both spoken and written
  • ITAM/SAM or License Manager certification (ideally internationally accredited, e.g. IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or local License Manager Certificate (TÜV))
  • You have a min. of 2-4 years experience in an IT or financial analytical role
  • You have 2-3 years’ experience of working in the ITAM/SAM industry
  • You have 2-3 years of hands-on information gathering, analysis and reporting on any organization’s assets
  • You are always highly organized with acute attention to detail
  • Additionally, you have strong analytical, data-gathering and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and customer needs
