Your Tasks

  • You are responsible for the project management of Technical Assistance and Knowledge Transfer projects in developing countries, with a special focus on Africa, including management and oversight of all activities across the consortium
  • You coordinate the implementation of Earth Observation application projects in the domains of forest, agriculture, and land use mapping, working in close cooperation with international partner companies and customers
  • You serve as the technical and organizational interface within multi-disciplinary project teams and production units
  • You are responsible for regular reporting of project results, both internally for resource and financial planning and externally toward customers through progress reports and technical deliverables
  • You present technical results to clients and counterparts in developing countries and manage expectations from clients and end users
  • You support the Business Development and Sales team in the acquisition of new Earth Observation opportunities in the forest and land use assessment domain
  • You take ownership of customer care and opportunity development

Your Profile

  • You hold a minimum of an M.Sc. in geography, agriculture, ecology, forestry, or a similar field
  • You have a solid background in remote sensing and GIS, image processing, or technical experience in agriculture, forest, and land cover classification
  • You bring several years of relevant working experience, including project management experience with high-budget, multi-stakeholder projects
  • You have demonstrated experience in supporting the technical production of Machine Learning-based workflows for Climate Smart Agriculture, large-area land use or forest mapping, as well as the derivation of spatial statistics at national and sub-national level, including EO-based product validation, thematic accuracy assessment, and geo-statistics
  • Ideally, you have an understanding of network architectures, hardware procurement and installation requirements, as well as the management of local logistics
  • You are familiar with programming tools and algorithm development to a level that allows you to oversee and coordinate the work of developers
  • You are familiar with standard Overseas Development Aid project approaches and their monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including Logical Framework, Theory of Change, and impact assessment methodologies
  • You have preferably worked on-site and conducted field work in relevant project contexts
  • You possess strong reporting and communication skills and are capable of working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • You have excellent English language skills in speaking and writing, and ideally also French language skills
  • You have experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating activities with partners in developing countries
